Heavy Corporation to Spin-Out Husky Media as Standalone Technology Platform
NEW YORK, June 4 /PRNewswire/ --
- Online Video Pioneer Continues to Innovate in Making Video Valuable by
Spinning out its New Video Advertising Platform: Husky Media
The Heavy Corporation today announced that it intends to spin off its
fast-growing video advertising platform, Husky Media (www.huskymedia.com), as
its own venture. Husky Media is a premium video ad platform that provides
publishers the opportunity to monetize video -- in all player formats --
using Husky's premium "Video-Skin" and "Video-Guide" platforms. Husky's
unique technology increases video inventory for publishers and blogs while
allowing them to use any video-player they want. Husky's Video Guide
technology provides publishers and bloggers with a large library of cleared
professional content for their audiences to view, and provides content owners
with scalable legitimate distribution which they can sell to premium
advertisers.
"Husky's platform grew out of Heavy's DNA of making online video valuable
for advertisers and our own audience," said David Carson, co-CEO of The Heavy
Corporation. "We were constantly approached by other publishers asking to use
our video advertising technology, which is why we created the platform. It
already has enormous momentum in the video marketplace and spinning it off
will only accelerate its growth among publishers and advertisers."
"We've always been at the forefront of creating valuable video
experiences for advertisers and entertaining consumers," said Simon Assaad,
co-CEO of The Heavy Corporation. "By spinning-off the Husky Media platform
we're enabling Husky to go after the whole video market, not just young men.
Heavy's strength and profitability has enabled it to support the development
of Husky. Just this week, we signed CBSSports.com as a distribution partner
for Heavy.com's award-winning sports series, The Burly Sports Show, and we
announced first quarter year-over-year revenue growth of 58%. These
achievements and the spin-out of Husky are the direct result of Heavy's focus
on making video valuable on the Internet."
Heavy's leadership will oversee both entities, which will be co-located
at Heavy's new offices on Seventh Avenue. The structure of the spin off is
subject to the consent of Heavy Corporation shareholders and the Board of
Directors.
