World Poll - Who is Your Choice for US President?
AMSTERDAM, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Now there is a website where non-US citizens can vote for the US president. The URL is http://www.voteforpresident.org. The site will be operational from June 10, 2008. The website will appear in 11 languages allowing 3.5 billion people to participate in their native language. In addition to English, the site will appear in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Malaysian, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. Why create such a site? The president of the US determines the world agenda, which has consequences for everyone. This site lets the other 6.3 billion people in the world vote. Now everyone's voice can be heard. By clicking on one of the presidential candidates, visitors can indicate their preference for Democrat - Barack Obama, or Republican - John McCain. After each vote, the tally changes. After voting, visitors can see how others in their country voted. Who can vote? Only non-US citizens can vote - just once. Visitors from the US will not be able to vote but can look at the world tallies. Who are we? Voteforpresident.org is an initiative of individuals interested in world affairs and the potential of the internet as a polling tool. This website is neutral regarding the candidates. To get the message out, we are using viral marketing techniques such as e-mails, blog posting and social networking sites.
