OpenTV Integrated Browser Solution Selected by Jupiter Telecommunications for Video-On-Demand Launch

SAN FRANCISCO, September 10 /PRNewswire/ --

- OpenTV Browser Established as Standard for VOD and Interactive TV

OpenTV Corp. (Nasdaq: OPTV), a leading provider of solutions for the
delivery of interactive and digital television, announced today that Jupiter
Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (J:COM; JASDAQ: 4817) has selected OpenTV
Integrated Browser(TM) as the standard browser for its next generation
Video-on-Demand (VOD) and interactive television services launched in
September.

OpenTV Integrated Browser has been widely used in the Japanese television
market in digital televisions manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial
Co. Ltd. and Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. in conjunction with Matsushita's
T-Navi(TM). Supporting HTML browsing and Broadcast Markup Language (BML)
content, the OpenTV browser was further enhanced for acTVila, the new common
TV portal, in service since February 2007.

J:COM, Japan's largest multiple system operator based on number of
subscribers, has offered its VOD service since the beginning of 2005, using
browsers from multiple vendors to support their interactive TV services.
However, in order to provide a common user interface and functionality across
their subscribers, J:COM has selected OpenTV's browser as the only solution
for all its interactive and digital television services, including VOD. All
of J:COM's set-top boxes will be equipped with OpenTV Integrated Browser and
VOD client software.

"We are very proud to have been chosen by J:COM as the provider for their
browser for VOD and interactive services," said Arata Hirao, General Manager
of OpenTV Japan K.K. "We look forward to further supporting J:COM's business
growth by continuing to deliver compelling and outstanding solutions as
quickly as possible with minimum cost."

"We recognized the requirement for a standard browser deployed across
devices making our services much easier for our subscribers. We looked at
many options in the market and chose OpenTV Integrated Browser as the
best-in-class standard product," said Mr. Tatsuya Yoshihara, J:COM's Deputy
GM, Service Strategy Division & General Manager, New Technology Dept. "OpenTV
Integrated Browsers had already been widely used in the digital TV industry
represented by major CE vendors such as Matsushita Electric and has recently
started to support the portal site called "acTVila". We will further
strengthen J:COM's interactive services including VOD, interactive TV
services for local communities as well as nationwide content, to meet ever
increasing customer needs."
