#saysomethingpositive for North Staffs, Urges Local PR Man

PR Newswire

STOKE-ON-TRENT, England, January 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

A North Staffordshire PR consultant is embracing social media with a drive to encourage people to think more positively about the area.

Richard Swancott launched the #saysomethingpositive campaign on January 1st, and wants people to use the hashtag on Twitter and Facebook, alongside a positive statement relating to the region.

He believes it will help to address negative perceptions of North Staffordshire, particularly with people living outside the area.

He said:"People outside the area - particularly those in the national media - are too happy to make assumptions about North Staffordshire without even coming here.

"Yes we have challenges to face, like any other city, but we also have plenty to shout about, and I think we forget that sometimes.

"I also think we talk the area down too much, when we should be proud of our achievements.

"If we can get enough of the people of North Staffordshire behind this, we can generate some momentum and change those negative perceptions."

The owner of Newcastle-based Richard Swancott Associates has started the campaign by tweeting about positive local stories, and is encouraging other people to do the same.

They could also promote positive activities going on within their community, business, football club, band, or even their family, including photos and video where possible.

All updates should end with the hashtag #saysomethingpositive.
