The Best Show on the Interiors Calendar 21-24 September 2008
LONDON, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- While last year's 30th anniversary Decorex International was an unmitigated success, this year's show is set to be even better. As part of the September London Design Festival, Decorex International is proving to be the must-see show for providing interior designers, buyers and architects from all over the world with the very best resource for quality interiors -- and all under one roof in the Royal Hospital Grounds, Chelsea. All the exhibitors are handpicked to showcase the newest and most exciting fabrics, wallpapers, furniture, floorcoverings, lighting and decorative accessories. It's no wonder that last year's show saw more international buyers than ever, more top-notch exhibitors than previous years, and the editorial coverage by journalists was unprecedented. New look for a new show This year sees the arrival of established events company CMPi as the show's new owners although Decorex founder, Ian Thompson and Show Director Caroline Lawson-Dick, along with their dedicated team, are as involved as ever. As Ian Thompson points out, "It is the most fantastic show to be involved with. And the standards just get higher and higher." With over 300 of the best interior companies involved, there is a lot to report on in the coming months leading up to the show, which is where the newly designed Decorex International website (www.decorex.com) comes in. A new concept embodies a fresh spirit, and with the news sections being constantly updated, this could be your first port of call to keep up-to-date with the wealth of talent accessible at the event. The sophisticated design will be interpreted in a variety of ways throughout the show, and to help bring the complete look together, the highly successful floral designers In Water have been asked back again to add vibrant, elegant touches around the show. Their ideas are under wraps at the moment, but all will be revealed on the website in the coming months. Designer influence World-renowned interior designer John Stefanidis is this year's guest designer. He has turned his talents to homes the world over, and has just recently returned from Geneva where he redesigned Sir Rocco Forte's 'Le Richemond Hotel.' With a highly regarded reputation for using colour and pattern to great effect, John Stefanidis will be adding his own very unique sense of style to the front foyer area at the Sloane Square entrance. He is not divulging all his plans as yet, but we do know he will be picking out some of the most beautiful pieces you will see at any interior design show, and combining these with comfortable places for people to meet and take time out from the event. In his words, "Decorex makes people 'pull their socks up' and discover what's new. It has to be spectacular and welcoming." Established designers will also be handing on their experience through the lectures taking place throughout the show period. KLC School of Design and BIDA (The British Interior Design Association) are working on exciting themes including lighting design, sustainability and ethical design and hotel design. Again, it's worth looking to the website for a calendar of events near the time. Trends & Themes The Fabric Pavilion proved a huge success last year with buyers and interior designers applauding the return of fabrics to the show. New names within this pavilion include Fromental, Loophouse, Salt UK Ltd and SoFarSoNear. As always, inspiring companies make this show anything but predictable, and this year is no exception. Just a few names to conjure with include Timorous Beasties, Clarissa Hulse and Andrew Martin, while The White Company, Brissi and Lombok will showcase their trade offerings. Information at your fingertips Hillgate Public Relations has been welcomed back to mastermind Decorex International's PR service. Their hospitality Press Office at the show will be bigger than last year, and will include internet access. So, if you are starting to prepare editorial ideas around the London Design Festival, Hillgate Public Relations are just a phone call or email away from getting the very latest information and images about exhibitors and trends for the show.
