Airtricity Deploys Wholesale Operations Management Solution for the Single Electricity Market
LONDON, August 27 /PRNewswire/ -- - Enables Market Operations and Risk Management for Leading Wind Power Company Ventyx(R), the world's largest private software provider to the energy and utility industry, today announced completion of an extensive MarketManager(R) implementation for Airtricity Holdings Ltd., a world-leading renewable energy company, to support operation in the new All-Island Single Electricity Market (SEM) ( http://www.allislandmarket.com/ ). The SEM, which went live on 1st November 2007, is the wholesale electricity market operating in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland under a new wholesale trading arrangement based on the gross mandatory pool approach. Airtricity rolled out the comprehensive operations management system from Ventyx to ensure accuracy, reliability and efficiency in energy trading data management and messaging with the Single Market Operator's (SMO's) central systems. The system transmits Airtricity's energy bidding information to the SMO and also retrieves generation and demand information, market settlement statements and invoices from the SMO. For example, Ventyx recently added capabilities to allow Airtricity the ability to validate billing determinants at the market operator level, as well as forecast its credit cover requirements by pulling in and analyzing generation, market price and customer demand data streams. Airtricity is one of six SEM market participants powered by MarketManager and expertise from Ventyx.
