Take a Scientific Approach to Finding the Perfect Partner
PASADENA, California and LONDON, October 6 /PRNewswire/ -- A staggering 93% of Brits don't believe that a scientific formula can
help them find love. But, this thinking is set to be turned on its head with
the UK launch of the highly successful US singles matching service, eHarmony.
Unlike other dating sites - where members post a picture and a short
biography, before browsing the profiles of other users - eHarmony uses an
advanced web-based "Compatibility Matching System" to present users with
compatible matches, based on key dimensions of their personality. Over half
(56%) surveyed said that compatibility is key in a potential partner.
Each new eHarmony user completes an in-depth relationship questionnaire
and is presented with a free personality profile. They are then matched with
other users who have been scientifically evaluated as being compatible with
them. Users have total control of when and how to communicate with their
matches.
This scientific approach to love is a runaway success in the USA where on
average 236 people every day get married after being matched by eHarmony.*
The survey also revealed that out of those looking for a relationship,
only seven per cent were looking for casual dating, with 30% looking for a
lifelong partner, 29% seeking marriage and 19% wanting a long term partner.
Greg Waldorf, CEO at eHarmony, is confident that the UK service will soon
prove that there is indeed some science behind finding the perfect partner:
"We have had more than 150,000 UK residents register on our US website, so we
knew that there was a demand for our compatibility matching service in the
UK. eHarmony offers UK singles who want a meaningful long-term relationship a
new way to find someone with whom they are highly compatible."
eHarmony partnered with researchers at the Oxford Internet Institute at
the University of Oxford to gather data which enabled eHarmony to identify
the compatibility characteristics that were unique to relationships in the
UK.
The OII research revealed that while the UK had many similarities in what
determines a successful relationship, there were also some interesting
differences between US and UK couples.
For example, married people in the United Kingdom consistently express
greater satisfaction with the amount of consensus they experience in their
marriage, such as the time spent together, how they get along with family and
in-laws, and their sexual relationship.
Those from the United States, on the other hand, show more satisfaction
with interpersonal aspects of the relationship, such as laughing together
more frequently, exchanging ideas, and kissing more often.
