LONDON, October 20 /PRNewswire/ --

United Business Media (UBM) announces that Adrian Barrick is appointed to
the position of CEO of its Built Environment division.

Adrian is one of the most respected figures in UK publishing. He started
his career as a graduate trainee with Morgan Grampian, and was a journalist
for twenty years writing for property and building titles, including an
eight-year stint as editor of Building magazine. Under his leadership,
Building won the prestigious PPA magazine of the year three times, as well as
a host of other industry awards for the magazine and its journalists. Among a
number of individual awards, Adrian has won the PPA Editor of the year award
and the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors business magazine
editor award three times. In 2007 he was named as PPA Business Publisher of
the Year.

The UBM Built Environment division contains some of the most well-known
and respected brands in UK media, including iconic publishing brands
Building, BD and Property Week; exhibition brands including Thames Gateway
Forum, ShedS and RESI; information service providers Barbour and ABI; and a
plethora of supporting events and digital products. UBM's Built Environment
media products reach an audience of over 300,000 professionals in the UK
construction, architecture, property and health & safety markets.

Adrian was previously Group Director of Property and Construction Media,
responsible for the publishing brands of the Built Environment division; a
position he has held since 2006. Before that he was publisher of Building and
BD. Adrian's appointment represents a further step in the 'delayering' of the
business following the departure of Gary Hughes, CEO of the former CMPi
business, and Jonathan Newby, former head of the Built Environment business.
