Shunra's New 5.0 Release of Virtual Enterprise Desktop Professional Helps Accelerate Software Development Testing at Adobe for Adobe Flash Media Server

PHILADELPHIA, December 15 /PRNewswire/ --

- The Windows-based network emulation solution includes more reporting
tools, enhanced analysis capabilities and the capability to easily rollout
networked applications across the enterprise

Shunra Software (www.shunra.com), the world's leading provider of network
emulation and application development testing solutions, today announced
version 5.0 of the Shunra Virtual Enterprise (VE) Desktop Professional
network emulation solution. A component of the award-winning Shunra VE Suite,
serving customers that perform network and application performance testing,
VE Desktop Professional 5.0 is a Windows-based network emulation solution. It
enables IT professionals to test software under a variety of current and
potential network conditions -- directly from the desktop. Shunra VE Desktop
Professional transforms a LAN-based testing environment to include the
real-world wide area network for accurate testing of applications.

Shunra VE Desktop Professional 5.0
(http://www.shunra.com/content.aspx?pageId=131) includes new functionality,
greater software development testing capabilities and enhancements in
reporting and analysis. This new version also includes time-saving
capabilities including:

-- Automatic delivery of post-test analysis, decreasing the number of
steps for users prior to reviewing test results
-- Upgraded GUI and Shunra VE Analyzer integration, providing root cause
       diagnosis
-- Ability to node lock the client, eliminating the need to communicate
       with the server
-- Optimized performance, allowing unprecedented scalability within any
       network

"We used Shunra's solution for wide area network emulation during
development and quality testing of Adobe(R) Flash(R) Media(R) Server 3.5. VE
Desktop Professional provides an accurate, real-world network model with the
ability to emulate bandwidth, packet loss and latency, which is essential for
us to meet our rigorous Quality of Service goals," said Srinivas Manapragada,
senior engineering manager at Adobe. "Accommodating a dynamic network with
streaming services is complex, Shunra helped us fine tune the logic and the
behavior of the algorithm for conditions that we could not otherwise test."

Adobe used the solution to help test the Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5
software, a high capacity streaming media server with real-time communication
capabilities. Incorporating VE Desktop Professional at the initial
development stages, the team was able to validate software that manages
multiple bit rate delivery within Adobe's dynamic streaming technology found
inside Flash Media Server. This software handled code and performance issues
before entering Adobe's rigorous quality assurance process. The Adobe
engineering team was able to improve quality and reduce the number of issues
found.

"Testing networked software and services is essential to ensure Quality
of Experience (QoE) and performance of software that is required to operate
over wide area networks," said Matt Reid, VP of Worldwide Marketing, Shunra
Software. "Customers such as Adobe use Shunra VE Desktop to implement early
development lifecycle testing, making it easier to address design and
implementation problems before production rollout. This approach is proven to
save staff time, reduce overall product release spend and ultimately provide
a better experience for end-users."

Shunra VE Desktop Professional 5.0 makes it easy to pinpoint and resolve
problems including chatty applications, latency-sensitive transactions,
caching inefficiencies, bandwidth constraints and other network performance
conditions. Software development and quality assurance test scenarios can be
shared by users and managed from a central repository. The product is ideal
for development, testing, networking teams, and anyone who needs to quickly
check whether their code or software is ready for the network and remote
end-users.

Shunra VE Desktop Professional 5.0 seamlessly integrates into existing
work environments and is integrated with industry leading tools such as HP
Software's LoadRunner, Quality Test Professional, and VMware Infrastructure
3. Shunra is the only WAN emulation vendor chosen as an HP Certified solution
integrated with LoadRunner and is the only WAN emulation Platinum Partner,
chosen by HP Software's Marketplace Referral program.

A free trial
