Otis' 'Green' Elevators Selected for Luxury Housing in China
FARMINGTON, Connecticut, September 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Otis Elevator Company, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), won an order to supply and install 106 energy-efficient elevators at Prince Town and Sunshine Mansion, two luxury residential developments in China's booming Liaoning Province. "Otis' energy-saving and environmentally friendly products have been a major driver of our success in China," said Otis President Ari Bousbib. The residential developments will use Otis' Sky elevators, which incorporate gearless permanent magnet motors that use half the energy of geared machines and require no lubrication, making them more efficient and cleaner for the environment. When completed in 2011, Prince Town, located along the Taizi River in Benxi, and Sunshine Mansion, located in the Liaoyang central business district, will offer a total of 2,300 luxury apartments. The developments are owned by the Fuhong Group, which was named "Key Leading Enterprise for National Agricultural Industrialization" by nine national ministries. Otis elevators serve many residential areas and landmark buildings in Liaoning Province, including the Shenyang Sheraton Hotel, Haide Garden residential area and Zhuozhan shopping mall.
