SAN JOSE, California, March 9 /PRNewswire/ --     Finjan Inc., a leader in secure web gateway products and the provider of
a unified web security solution for the enterprise market, announced today
that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) has issued a Notice
of Intent to Issue Ex Parte Reexamination Certificate in the reexamination of
its U.S. Patent No. 6,480,962 for a system and method for protecting a client
during runtime from hostile downloadables. The Notice indicates that all
claims of this security patent have been confirmed as being patentable by the
PTO.

The PTO upheld the patentability of all of the originally
issued claims that were challenged in the reexamination proceeding and
indicated the allowability of additional claims added during prosecution of
the reexamination application. Finjan was able to address the alleged prior
art challenges to the patent and strengthen further its patent assets. With
the conclusion of the PTO reexamination of U.S. Patent 6,480,962, the issued
claims have now been subjected to two separate examinations, by independent
groups of patent examiners, and have been held to be patentable in both
instances.
