Northern Trust Global Investments Wins Euro 2 Billion AP7 Quant Index Mandate

LONDON, September 19 /PRNewswire/ --

Northern Trust Global Investments ("NTGI"), the investment management arm
of Northern Trust, has been appointed by Sjunde AP-Fonden ("AP7") to run two
quantitative index portfolios in London which, together, total approximately
euro 2 billion in assets (approximately US$3 billion).

One portfolio is a European mandate that will be invested in an adjusted
FTSE All World Europe Index; the other is an American mandate to be invested
in an adjusted FTSE All World Americas Index. The adjustments were made in
line with AP7's Socially Responsible Investment list.

"We continue to invest significantly in our global quantitative
management business and the Nordic region is one of the areas where demand
for quantitative strategies continues to gather momentum," said Kevin Hardy,
Managing Director of Sales for NTGI's EMEA and Asia-Pacific business. He
added, "This new business win from one of the world's most sophisticated
funds emphasises our commitment to quant and to Sweden and other Nordic
markets. This was an important differentiator contributing to our appointment
along with our unique approach to index management and our ability to
electronically connect to AP7 via the TradeseC trade capture system."

AP7 is the seventh buffer fund assigned by the Swedish Parliament to
manage pension funds for the Swedish people. The Swedish pension system has
three components: income-determined pension, premium-determined pension and
guaranteed pension. AP7 operates within the premium-determined pension
system. The portfolios are to be managed on a segregated basis as part of
AP7's Choice and Savings range of funds.
