Afghan Wireless Nominated for World Communications Award for Best Operator in a Developing Market

KABUL, Afghanistan, September 20 /PRNewswire/ --

Afghan Wireless has been nominated for the World Communications Award as
the Best Operator in a Developing Market. The awards will be announced on
November 28, 2007 in London at a gathering of global telecommunications
companies, including firms from both developed and developing telecom
markets.

The World Communications Awards recognize the companies and individuals
responsible for the innovations, achievements and noteworthy new services
that are helping to build the telecom industry of tomorrow. They are open to
all communications providers, whether they are a traditional carrier, a
service provider, a multimedia content provider or another organization
providing a communications service.

Convergence may be the industry buzzword today, but for many years the
World Communication Awards have been providing a networking and promotional
platform that unites all sectors.

The World Communication Awards maintain their independence and focus on
large issues facing the industry. They encourage entries from communications
providers across the globe, both large and small, to ensure that the awards
can truly claim world status.

In early 2007, Afghan Wireless was also nominated for the GSMA award for
best Network initiatives. "The [current] WCA award nomination for Afghan
Wireless is a great achievement representing our teamwork, our efforts, our
commitment and our vision for the Afghanistan market. I am thrilled to be
able to help provide my countrymen with a communications network, powered by
state-of-the-art technology, that allows them to connect to each other and
the outside world," said Ehsan Bayat, Chairman of Afghan Wireless.
