a global leader in outsourced internet infrastructure services for the

Column Technologies (BMC's "Elite" Global Partner) quickly needed a
virtualized IT lab to develop and test its new software-as-a-service (SaaS)
offering prior to production. The solution needed to address the full
lifecycle so that it would enable customer prototyping and testing before
deploying to production as well as being able to utilize a global resource
pool. Virtualization allows accelerated time to market and reduces
infrastructure costs typically associated with internal IT lab environments,
making it more cost-effective than competing for data center space.

Savvis' cloud-based virtual lab solution based on Skytap's Virtual Lab
(http://www.skytap.com/) enabled Column to deploy its SaaS offering in just
days using the self-service interface. After just three months, Column
expanded its usage to include test and development (T&D) of its core in-house
applications, Column's Customer's applications, training environments and
development and quality assurance due to cost savings and time-to-value.

"We now use the Savvis test and development environment for all our T&D
and have achieved flexibility and speed to production benefits that would not
have been possible using traditional IT infrastructure approaches," said Rob
Yario, principle, Column Technologies. "In addition, Column estimated a
savings of 35 percent using Savvis' solution versus competitors and in-house
options."

"Enhancing our services in test and development with Skytap, Savvis has
the resources to quickly deploy a high performance Virtual Lab solution for
Column Technologies," said Larry Steele, technical vice president, SaaS,
Savvis. "We look forward to expanding our relationship with Column as they
continue to advance their software-as-a-service business model."
