MutantAuction.com Launches in U.K. as a Welcome Respite From Recession

LONDON, September 16 /PRNewswire/ --

- Reverse Auction Site Allows Lowest Bidder to Win

While the recession wreaks havoc on retail buying, a new auction website
is becoming the place to buy brand-new consumer electronics at unbelievably
low prices.

MutantAuction.com is just that-a new twist on the typical auction that
awards the highest bidder. MutantAuction.com is a reverse auction, meaning
that the lowest bid always wins. A reverse auction is a relatively new
concept and it is bringing discount shopping to a whole new level.

Created by 24-year-old London resident and technology expert Zach
Bastick, MutantAuction.com lists only top-name consumer electronics. Other
products are being added, including bikes, cars and spa days. Unlike sites
like Ebay, where the highest bidder always wins, MutantAuction.com awards the
lowest unique bidder.

"This allows us to sell products which would normally cost hundreds of
pounds for only a couple of pounds," Bastick said. "The average discount on
our auctions is 99 percent off retail price. We think that this is a good
take on auctions during the current economic downturn."

At http://www.mutantauction.com, users can bid on new, factory sealed
products from wholesalers, including flatscreen TVs, iPods, digital cameras
and gaming systems like X Boxes and Nintendo Wiis.

Joining MutantAuction.com is free. Users simply buy credits to bid, often
getting many free credits in return depending on how many they purchase. The
site is offering a promotion right now where first-time users receive a
50-percent bonus on their first credit purchase.

MutantAuction.com does require some strategy because users get instant
feedback on their bids. They are told immediately if it is the winning bid.
They can get real-time status reports, helping them decide how to place
subsequent bids. This creates some competition between bidders to try to get
the lowest unique bid.

U.K. resident Sebastian Robinson, 38, won an LG-32 widescreen TV for only
GBP0.41. The TV retails for GBP549.

"I can't believe how easy the site is to use," Robinson said. "This is
the best deal I've ever gotten on electronics anywhere."

U.K. resident Tiffany Cooper, 26, won a Canon digital camera that
retails for GBP250 for only GBP1.29 late last month.

"I thought that this was too good to be true," Cooper said. "But I had my
brand-new camera in just a few days. I'd recommend this site to anyone."
