In the feature set APC touts a "Master" outlet that controls several "Controlled By Master" outlets.
Sounded good to me: I can plug the PC into "Master", plug the router into "Controlled", and when the power fails Ill have a LAN connection until the PC shuts itself down and after that the router will not drain the UPS battery.
But it does not work: total misrepresentation by APC.
What really happens is that as soon as the power fails, those "Controlled By Master" outlets lose their power. The "Master" device has nothing to do with it.
Maybe Im missing something, but I see no "feature" there: its the same as if the "Controlled By" devices were plugged into a plain old surge protector - or the "Surge Protector" outlets on the UPS.
