In the beginnings of this codec they claim it was so much less CPU intensive than Divx. I don't know, I'm just taking their word for it. Now Divx codec has improved greatly from the early days so I've been testing this claim and don't see any improvement in CPU usage over the current Divx codec. The advantage this filter has over Divx is that after installation it will play most any video you have no matter what codec it uses. This is something Divx can't do.

What a idotic statement to say it is junk. I don't understand why people say such harsh things about good software. Maybe its a power thing or they think it makes them look like they have great knowledge. In reality, it makes them look like the idiots that they are.
Isn't it funny how older programs work better than the new stuff? I searched, tried, and searched again for something that would make this easy. I'm not very informed about video codecs and compression, bit rates and all that stuff. AutoGK works great. I don't know what I'd do without it. It uses the Xvid codec which I think is best for encoding movies.
In other programs that will encode with Xvid, you have to set the encode options manually. This is what I find difficult to get the same output I get from AutoGK, because it does the settings in the background and you don't have to touch it.
For the novice, this is the best program around, even if it is a few years old. It works! Even on XP.
