i used the 2007 version which i also rated as a good program. however the 2007 version was getting quite dated towards the end and i dont really see much of an improvement with the 2008 version. its a simple to use program and does cover most things but its designed for non technical minded pc users and people with tech knowledge wont find it useful. these programs seem a good idea but the problem is they dont get the optimal performance from your pc! more of a average to good in all departments as each persons pc requires different needs to suit your personal requirements. i use several programs to keep mines running smoothly, revo uninstaller is a must,start up mechanic is good, cc cleaner and certain features with windows advanced care beta. all are free with no catches and if used properly will bring your pc to optimal performance.

i used this for 6 months and it looked good but ended average! it uses an older version of spybot s&d database and has a clever feature to merge av protection aswell with clam!! if it worked.. the realtime shield never remembers your settings and it drives you mad. another problem would be its intrusion and i think it comes with a built in crawler toolbar which is kak and slows your browser down by 20% apprx. i also found my system ran very buggy and after i uninstalled it!! it was fine so that makes me rather suspicious! start up mechanic describes it as "something you should have nothing to do with"

one of the best free spyware programs available. its scanner is very powerful at detection and removal and its realtime protection is ok. i wouldnt however use it with spyware terminator as stated below as terminator use an older version of spybots database which they bought from them. spybot is simple to use and dosent hog cpu power.

take away its realtime protection and its as good as dead. the scanner never reveals anything on a quick scan and a full scan takes a decade to complete. i used it for six months and my browser got hijacked aswell as other malware that defender failed to detect. and when i scanned after infection it failed to pick anything up. i would try spybot . it has realtime protection but its best feature is its scanner with is very useful at detection and elimination..

frostwire is very similar to limewire and both are using the awful gnutella network which is infested with all types of malware, trojans and viruses. if you are going to use either then make sure you have a good av and spyware program that is up to date. avoid most quicktime format downloads as its usually a virus and just plain avoid any software downloads. frostwire is better than limewire as it does give you some parental control but you will have to re adjust all the settings in evrey way. i would still say avoid frostwire if possible and try something like ares but if you really want frostwire then be careful...

if you wake up in the morning and think, you are an onion then download limewire. you would have to be mad to use limewire. you will need to re adjust all the settings and restict the uploads or when you start downloading it will slow to a crawl. its riddled with spyware and trojans. do not download any quicktime files as they are usually viruses. it dosent have its own media player it simply plugs into your media player. its parental settings are useless and any film you download will be porn. avoid like the plague...
