The cyclical redundancy error occurs because the DVD has "false" cells in it that make the disc appear greater than 4.38GB.
You need another software to remove the false cells (or see them so you can remove them). I use ripit4me, it works in conjunction with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (though they are not required for it to work).
