Eclipse is a free, open source IDE for developing Java or C/C++ applications and programs. Eclipse is available also for Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) for developing web applications. It is possible to develop applications for Apple iPhone. Additional programming language versions can be downloaded as well. Being programmed in Java as well, Eclipse is a cross-platform software and is available for Windows, OS X and Linux. Eclipse has an easy-to-use user interface that can be customised to one's liking. Eclipse itself is also highly customizable with addons, such as Aptana. Programming-easing features of Eclipse include code assist, libraries and debug console and hints, as well as code project management. The official Eclipse website provides a community, resources and tutorials for programming and developing.
