The last version of the original client is 3.51 <br/> <br/>LphantV4.exe (or Lphant 4.0 or Discordia Lphant) is not related to the original client although it does use the same name, same logo and even the website or the original project. <br/> <br/>LphantV4.exe is not compatible to the eDonkey network or the Bittorrent protocol. Instead it connects to a network that's advertised as offering “15 million FREE songs & videos” and yet you can't find free movies or free software. For example, the 3.51 client is capable of downloading any free, non-copyrighted song or video from the eMule content database (contentdb.emule-project.net) while the fake LphantV4.exe cannot. <br/> <br/>Installing the fake client actually deletes the original version. That borders with malware. <br/> <br/>Afterdawn and some other major download sites have fallen for the scam, although Afterdawn does offer the 3.51 version for download. So do yourself a favor: remove the fake version if you have installed it, and install 3.51 again. <br/> <br/>Oh, and a tip for 3.51 users: open your hosts file and add the line <br/>127.0.0.1 ad.adliveserver.com <br/>in order to remove messages trying to phish you to remove the original version by installing “a newer version of Lphant”. <br/> <br/>(My rating is for the original client of course)
