can i use my xbox 360 to watch movies off my portable hard drive?

I watch movies off my usb stick all the time. :). The movies have to be in the right format, and so does the usb device.

My usb stick is formated in FAT 32, and all my media files are in AVI. I assume that other formats may work, but I can guarantee this will work. If you need more help feel free to contact me.

the xbox 360 can also play x264 and Nero Digital AVC(.mp4)

MS has a webpage for formats that can be played

your HD has to be fat32

yeah um havin trouble playing moives from my usb keeps telling me code 60... sumfing ive already updated i thort xbox was able too play ne thing once it was updated

Yes....you can. I recommend using AVI file format (cleaner file and smaller in size). You can also stream your videos thru your pc/laptop thru Windows Media Player or an application like Tversity This can be done thru your wirless or hard wired network as long as your 360 has wifi or is hard wired.
