I have been using the google sync application, and I have 519 gmail contacts. When I do a sync, I end up with about 1800 contacts on my phone, some names duplicated twice, some 6 times, some 11 times - for no apparent reason. I have spent three days trying to resolve this - my phone will NOT let me select the "do not allow duplicates" option - so what now? I use firefox with XP and sprint is my carrier.
