How to convert .mkv to something play-able (on DVD player) while keeping dual audio, subs and quality?

I have few mkv. files and I’d like to burn them but my DVD player doesn’t support the format.
Files have dual audio and subtitles and I’d like to know if there’s way to convert them to something play-able while keeping features and quality?

If they are HD MKV files, then its hard to convert them to a playable DVD format on a dvd player, its possible but takes ages and you need to read around..

However i have used WinAVI converter and seems to work ok, but occasionally have stutters and little glitches in the playback....

Doesnt bother me as i dont bother converting, just buy a WD TV media streamer...its the BOM!
