Hi my laptop keeps freezing, the only way i can shut down is to hold power button,my hhd has a partition i want to delete before i do a clean re-install of windows 7,can anyone please give me a idiots guide on how to do it. i have the windows 7 disk but the label on my laptop is warned and unreadable.do i need to save any drives (sound/video) to memory stick first
thank you for any help
I would download all the drivers for your laptop from the manufacturers website and save them so you can install them later. Some laptops have a recovery partition on them that you can re-install the the OS on them.I have no idea what the make and model is of your laptop so you will have to look up that information for yourself.
Before deleting check you dont have a recovery partition at your disposal
assuming you can get the laptop to run for a period of time or perhaps in safemode, drivermax is a free (no money need be paid)utility that will backup all drivers
this label you speak of do you mean you cant read the license number youll need to retrieve it from the operating system before deleting anything
I had a similar issue and decided to buy Windows 8 and install from USB... All I did was boot from the USB drive, delete the existing windows partition and recreat a new partition to install the OS right from within the installation menu.
I have since installed it on two more computers and have not needed to download any additional drivers (driver support is apparently really good). That said, its a reason to upgrade and I personally like the integration with the new version of Windows and the new look and feel.
