Aside from Grammar, English, and Spelling ... ALL of which does matter!!
Try following the MANUAL for proper connections. Otherwise, something must be broken.

With what rulisky said, if you are connecting directly to the tv(some tvs allow for this), try going into the settings of the tv. If you are hooking it up to a receiver check the manual.
