I have a samsung series 7 chronos running on a windows 7 operating system. I had some issues with it so I restored it. However, instead of restoring it, I just re-installed windows 7 and the laptop shut down mid-install. Ever since then Ive been getting this black screen that says BOOTMGR missing ctrl+alt+dlt to reboot. Ive tried command prompt to use bootrec /Rebuild bcd etc... and all i get is these characters in Japanese/Chinese? please help as I do not want to take it to Best Buy, I really think it can be fixed by myself.
I also tried using the windows 7 dvd restoration disk with no success.
Thanks for the replies. But I believe the hard disk failed (I recieved a prompt for this). Is it best if I just take it to the shop to get this fixed?
Well, if you tried to install Win 7, and remember you didnt say where from.... Its possible you wrote over the section of the hard drive that had the restore info. So that may not be an option anymore.
Try and reinstall again. You may have to format the drive and start again. This is done in the Win 7 install disk.
Also go into your BIOS (google how to for your laptop) and make sure that the hard drive is STILL set to be the first boot device.
My desktop will decide to rearrange what it boots off of if my Blackberry is plugged into during a reboot...
I had the exact same problem. To fix it I just put the 2011
Spotmau boot-able disk in my disk drive an let it boot from
that disk first. When it boots the disk offers two options,
boot into the Spotmau disk software or your hard drive. I
just take the other option and boot my hard drive.
