can use external monitor to still use laptop as a desktop. can also get new screen to replace broken screen for less then $200. what is the make & model# of the laptop to see what hard drive interface(ide or sata) you have?

Monitor and a cable (VGA,HDMI,DVI) to the laptop and you would be all set to go. Then use an external hard drive to transfer. It dependes what you have on the laptop, it could take a long time to transfer all you want to transfer.

Use a portable hard drive.....plug it in and transfer.
