My dvd drive is messed up on my 360. Trying to get a new one but someone says it needs to be flashed. Does it need to be?
Its a Phillips DVD drive

Hi,
So replacing a xbox360 drive means getting the exact same model drive.
The dvd drive in your xbox360 is paired with the motherboard using a special "key" that only your 360 has.
Simply replacing the drive is not enough,
You MUST extract the key from the older drive
and flash it onto the new one.
or else your dvd drive will never work with your xbox360.
In some instances its possible to use another dvd drive different from the original... this is called "spoofing" the drive.
if you wish to just swap out the older one for an identical one, then "spoofing" will not be needed, just extract the drive key and put it in the new one.

ok where do i find the key? never done this before and wanna make sure i do it right. Im in the process of getting the drive which is the same as the one thats in it which is Phillips.
then, my friend, youre going to need a probe 3 tool, from team xecuter, then possibly x360usbpro, team xecuter as well. Then youll have to introduce yourself to the jungleflasher program. Everything you need to know about this process IS on the internet. Takes a little time to study and resarch.
