To whom it may concern I am trying to get a 17.GB game onto 1 dvd disc.It is on my external.Is DVD Shrink the right thing to use? Karen

NO.

It is doubtful if you can compress 17gb to fit on a DL dvd much less a "regular" dvd.

You can try compressing with winrar or zip but -again- it probably will not compress enough.

Burn the files as data to a bdr disc. But you will need a bdr disc burner/reader in order to use the resulting disc. You could keep the files on your external hd. Putting the files on a separate flash drive will be pricey as flash drives of the required size are not cheap.

Yes with a Blue-Ray disc burner and BurnAware Free software for copying to a blank Blue-ray disc. A single layer disc will hold 25GB. It wont fit on a regular blank DVD.You also have to burn it as a data disc like was stated above.

simples - you cant do it on a dvd and dvd shrink only shrinks movie dvds not games and software etc.
winrar will compress it but rarely produces a total file size of more than 5% difference in terms of output.
if you dont have blu-ray discs and a blu-ray burner then you cant burn it to a disc.
