why dvd writer is not able to write cds..?

m using lg dvd writer . It can write dvds bt nt cds. While writing cds it starts writing process and in the middle it stops the process and it makes the cd useless. Whats the cause of this? plzzzzz help

perhaps the DVD drive is broke or your using cheap CDs, its either one
