Microsoft was the first to report their U.S. console sales figures for March, claiming the top spot in the nation for the 27th straight month.
March NPD's: 261k Xbox's sold in the US. Number 1 for the 27th straight month
The company sold 261,000 units in the U.S., besting the PS3 and the practically dead Nintendo Wii.
Global sales amounted to 1.3 million during the quarter, bringing total lifetime sales to 77.2 million.
In total, consumers spent $402 million on hardware, software, accessories for the month, besting rivals, as well.
