American women care for Internet as much as sex?

Intel and Harris Interactive have released the results of a recent survey they conducted entitled “Internet Reliance in Today’s Economy.” The survey polled 2,119 American adults.
The first "key" finding of the survey was that 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men said they would give up sex for two weeks rather than give up Internet access for the same two week period.

The Internet ranked highest among discretionary spending items, higher than cable television, dining out, and shopping for clothing.

61 percent of women surveyed said they would rather lose TV for two weeks, then have their Internet access taken for one.

“The survey revealed that 65 percent of adults feel they cannot live without Internet access, and even more — 71 percent — responded that it is important or very important to have Internet-enabled devices, such as laptops, netbooks and mobile Internet devices that can provide them with real-time updates on important issues including the state of the economy,”
noted Intel.

Including the state of the economy, eh?

They should have asked the question like this:

Quote:
If you were going to get sex at least once every day for 2 weeks would you give up the internet or sex?
I think my email and all the other crap I do to waste time on the net could wait for sure !!!!

But there's sex on the internet :S

What do they lose ;P

Considering how bad American women are in bed, no big loss.
Voted second worst in the world.
I demand a recount.
German women couldn't possibly be as unskilled or anywhere near as neurotic and inhibited.
It's why American women always reach for criticism of their men as a defense mechanism.
They know they themselves are bloody awful at it.

I am reminded of that episode of South Park where the internet was down and everyone went crazy because they couldn't get on Drudge.

If you can't go two weeks without the internet I think its pretty clear that you have no life.

their option, give up the internet, or give up the intermittent substandard sex with the same water-retaining seacow they've be suffering with for years? My guess, most men would give that up for a Snickers bar and a soda.

There's sex on the Internet, but it will never be like having the real thing. Seeing a woman laying naked in your bed is not the same as seeing the same thing on a computer screen.

30 percent of those same men probably play WoW and have a steady diet of Cheeto's and Mountain Dew, or are in there 30's to 40's.

Sex is work. the internet is luxury.

just a bad comparison

I am surpirsed no one mention that the American flag is correct or is it a subliminal message relating to this article. Don't know not American so maybe missing something.

They only surveyed 2119 Ameican Adults do you know how small a population that is even for some small towns????
It is only 40 people per state.

Anyway you can get everything on ADSL connections nowdays minus the ads, Which are really time consuming in America. I do like ads though you can get a few things done inbetween watching your fav program.

Anyway there would be a whole lot of catching up to do once the 2 weeks were over.

The ball is in your court!

Initially I thought the same thing. But if nothing else, through some of the participants comments, the survey still shows that some people are so hooked on the 'net its ridiculous.

Really what it shows is the growing class of computer-based couch potatoes. 10 or 15 years ago, even a survey as tiny in scope as this one wouldn't have turned out these kinds of results (mainly because back then cruising the net was akin to wading through a bog).

The same thing happened with portable media. Back in the 90s walkmans and other portable music/cd players were real popular with people who exercised regularly, but they werent seen many other places. Now, there are droves of people who are seemingly grafted to their IPods and carry them around everywhere.

Just goes to show how susceptible people are to entertainment dependency (I made that one up but it seems to fit).

I don't disagree per se, but could you cite your source here?

Did the voters lay pipe with a woman from each country in order to remain fair and balanced when voting the absolute worst? How do they know the skill with which the women of Micronesia root around? Maybe they're horrible!

Or, was the poll conducted solely in Europe? If so, might the answers not be a bit biased? We'll need answers for this broad claim!

Besides NOT polling enough people the comment about American women is completely off the mark. ROFL. Obviously that guy has never paid for a real professional and I'm not talking about a $100 either.... :P:P:P:P

NOW... giving up sex for 2 weeks is easy!!! We've had 3 kiddies and I had to give it up for 6 weeks after each birth for everything to "heal" like it needs too!!! Anyway if this same question would have been posed when I was in my 20's I would say HECK NO to NO sex... LOL.

Perspective is what I'm looking for here. Anyone agree?? :P

I think the poll question should be clarified. To me, all it means is that the people in their current lifestyle didn't have much to loose by giving up sex. You ask those people to give up internet, and there goes their remainder of their life.

Now if you asked people to choose between a guaranteed great internet connection and guaranteed great sex everyday, I'm pretty sure they would take the sex.
