AT&T drops price of refurbished iPhone 3G to $149

AT&T drops price of refurbished iPhone 3G to $149 The AT&T Wireless website has begun selling refurbished 16GB Apple iPhone 3G devices for $149 USD, a full 50 percent discount of the $300 USD retail price.
Of course you will have to sign a two-year contract to get the phone at that price, and being refurbished it may not be in pristine condition, but the price drop is still somewhat of a surprise.

The price drop has many believing that Apple is once again clearing out all excess inventory to make way for a third generation of the device, coming as soon as June, Apple's standard launch month.

Refurb iPhones have been available for some time now, with AT&T selling smaller capacity 8GB models for $99 and Best Buy selling the larger model for $249 USD, but never at "firesale" prices like this.

If they didn't stab me with a $30.00/month data plan for the life of the iPhone, I'd get one of these....but I refuse to pay over $60.00 each month for Internet only (my home connection and data plan)... :-(!

Exactly! I could deal with the 149.00 price tag for the phone but 60 dollars for internet is just too much. Until the price of mobile internet comes down a little bit more, I don't care how cheap the phone is, I'll never invest any money in that type of technology. I'm conent right now with my antiquated Nokia 6061.

It gets more ridiculous than the data plan with AT&T. I currently have a 1st gen Blackjack with an UNLIMITED data plan, which includes internet, text and X amount of multimedia texts (not sure, I don't use it) all for $20 on top of my regular plan...

So, my fiance gets an iPhone and she has to pay $40 for 450 Nationwide, another $30 for data and EXTRA for a text package! Yes, texting is NOT included with the iPhone data plan, and you will be charged for incoming and outgoing texts!

Now, to top that off, I have had AT&T since 2002. As a loyal customer, I called and tried to get in on the iPhone. I typically do not upgrade after my "2 year" contract period, and waited 6 months later before I got the BJ over my RAZR. Well, of course my contract was renewed from that point and I'm supposed to hold out until August before getting a "new" phone.

As a long time customer, I said, what the hell, I'll call AT&T and get them to extend my contract 2 years FROM August, so I can get an iPhone. Well, after numerous salespeople and managers, they were willing to let me upgrade to any phone EXCEPT the iPhone. When asked why, they just said "we can't do it."

I was furious to say the least. I made several good arguments to them, including being a long time customer, and how they could charge me for their absurd data plan from March through August AND an 2 years from August. No dice. Apparently new customers can go and get in on a discounted iPhone or a cheaply priced refurb, but existing longtime customers are given the shaft.

I decided not to upgrade afterall.

to all of you complaining about the 30 dollar a month internet package, you can cancel that after the first month. had a friends wife do this to both of their iphones in order to cut down on their monthly bills.

Well, my rant was the fact that I have an unlimited data package that includes unlimited text for $10 CHEAPER. AT&T is blindly raping anyone with an iPhone. Not knocking the iPhone, just AT&T and the fact they won't let me have one till August!
