Microsoft to drop price of Xbox 360 Elite to $299

Microsoft to drop price of Xbox 360 Elite to $299 Last week we reported that Microsoft was planning to kill off the Xbox 360 Pro model, while at the same time lowering the price of the larger capacity Elite model.
Today, Kotaku is reporting that rumor is indeed fact, and a Meijer catalog leak shows the Elite seeing a price drop on August 30th, alongside the imminent phase out of the Pro model.

The Elite will see its price drop to $299, leaving only two options on the market, the $199 HDD-less Arcade model and the now $300, 120GB HDD Elite.

Of course, "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation," but we know better already.

I am more curious about what the remaining pro consoles will be going for before they are all gone

my guess is for their current price until this drop officially happens, then the stores will pull them from the shelves and ship them back to MS. after this they will remove the 60 gig HDs, and put in the 120s, and send them back out to the stores.

dont be expecting for them to be on sale or anything.

Won't let me return it. I asked they would only give me store credit. Plus I bought games with it as a deal and I really don't want to sent it back. Just flashed my drive as well.

Use the store credit for then new one. No matter what you have done to it (IMO) the deal is to good to pass up.

Why don't you lot just fit a bigger drive instead of paying more money for something you already have?.. that was done on day of release.

Once the price drops, I'll buy my first Xbox 360.
