Apple developing smaller-sized iPad for 2011? According to Digitimes Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo, Apple is already developing a smaller version of the iPad, reportedly anywhere from 5-to-7 inches, which it will launch in early 2011.
Kuo based his conclusion on talks "with upstream component sources," and he also concludes that the smaller iPad will sell for somewhere between $300 and $400.

The device will be targeted at at the "highly-portable mobile device market and consumers that focus mainly on reading and do not have a high demand for text input," meaning it will basically be an e-reader that additionally has all the other perks of an iPad.

When asked about the HP Slate, Kuo says it will not be any competition to the iPad, mainly due to its low battery life.

I would rather have the HP slate seeing it has a full OS and still has 5 hours of battery.

You mean the iPhone?

Yes I was about to say they already did this - it was called an iPhone.

Still seems to expensive to me. If it where to run OSX that would be a different story but that's not gonna happen now is it?

Why are their no comparisons to the MS Courier. That seems like it might be a decent rival or alternative to the iPad. ---Chikn

Are you friggin serious? The Ipad is just a big Ipod touch, so what would a smaller Ipad be? You guessed it. I hate apple so much

1110.4.2010 07:30

Josipher I guess you haven't used an IPAD yet. If you have not touch or used an IPAD please DON NOT comment as if you know something.

IPAD is totally useless in the business world. Slate will have windows 7. I can install all the "usefull apps" in windows 7 that can be use in a "real world application". Try that on an IPAD.

Yea, exactly what I was thinking too. When shrunk, people want it to fit in their pocket, like an iPhone, but a really expensive iPhone to boot, so their would really be no diff at all, IMO.

so its a smaller big ipod touch?

I thought the whole point of an ipad (an over sized ipod touch) was for the bigger screen the whole point of it is to read books more easily that's it why would you browse the web on it it has no flash support. If they shrink it its just a damn ipod touch what they should have done is put OSX on the ipad i think it's a huge waste of money even the hp slate yes it has a full os but so do netbooks and i am sure some netbooks get more then 5 hours of battery life
