Internet Explorer gains market share in July

Internet Explorer gains market share in July According to the latest Net Applications data, Microsoft's Internet Explorer actually gained browser market share for the second straight month, gaining at the expense of rivals Firefox and Chrome.
For the month ended July 31st, IE grew its share globally by .42 percent, while Firefox dropped 1 percent and Chrome fell marginally by .08 percent.

Internet Explorer 8 saw the strongest growth of any individual browser version, moving up 1.38 percent to 42.16 percent.

Net Applications creates the figures based on browser usage, not installation or download numbers.

Overall, Internet Explorer has 60.74 percent of the market, Firefox has 22.91 percent, Chrome has 7.16 percent and Apple's Safari has 5.09 percent. Opera and others account for the remaining 4.10 percent.

thats a little hard to beleive.maybe can chalk it up to new computer owners that dont know any better.i use firefox and going back to ie is like going back to the stone age.

If you guys really think about it the only reason internet explorers share went up is because of all the sales that windows 7 is generating. Remember they were stating that it was sellling one at about 7 secs. So I'm positive this is what causing this boost in their market share.

If in fact there is truth to the claim of IE gaining market share then it's bloated and illegitimate and GOD help anyone if they base any financial decision off this because they'll lose their shirt on this non-sense. No one in their right mind or tech savvy people use IE...........PERIOD.

it's my primary browser it needs improvement when handling opening multiple tabs,everything seems to come to complete halt for a few seconds or just freezes the dam thing it's very fickle & bloody annoying,yep i've got ff & opera as backup

Yes, this was my thought exactly. Just new Windows 7 installations rather than increasing popularity.
