Former senator Chris Dodd is now head of the MPAA

Former Senator Christopher Dodd has been appointed the new CEO of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), years after the group began searching.
The studios behind the trade group had long fought over fighting a candidate but all seem very excited by the new appointment.

One studio boss even said, of Dodd: "He has great experience in government, is a leader and has real charisma."

Dodd became a senator for Connecticut in 1981 and remained in office until January of this year.

Despite his many years in politics, Dodd is likely best remembered for his failed presidential bid in 2008 and his call that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were "fundamentally strong" and "in good shape" just months before the government was forced to nationalize the companies in a deal that will likely cost taxpayers over $150 billion.

Recently made ex-politician hawking his 'influence' to a trade group which regularly attacks and acts against the interests of it's customers.
What a pathetic joke.

At least the UK puts a 2yr (sometimes longer) ban on politicans and civil servants doing this.....who knows what this guyy did for his position & doubtless huge paycheck before leaving office?

Can you say 'corrupt'?

the media has always tryed to use scare tactics.they always trying to blame people for stuff.apparently being gay means you will get aids.using drugs means you will get hep C.Creeping over the speed limit will result in you getting smashed up in a car accident.Smoking means you will get cancer.downloading a movie or piracy is as bad as stealing an old ladys handbag or a car.

cant wait to see what other things they try to blame pirates for.

This is really bad as you can bet that Dodd will use his connections in DC to influence laws and film ratings to benefit the MPAA’s means.

Now it they could hire Barney Frank they would be two up and we would be less one more idiot in the Congress.

I hope that the people (we) will start getting their power together. Consumers need to make that move in order to bring an end to this corruption.
Don't look now. Here comes Barney Frank right "behind" him. Yes Mr-Movies you are right on.

As a former resident of Connecticut, I am surprised Mr. Dodd hasn't decided to take leave of the United States for his castle in Ireland. He may have to anyway, once the government is actually run by adults. He should be in an orange jump suit, as it is but we'll see. And after all people in Connecticut know he lives near the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, so let's get on that bandwagon everybody and encourage him. Oh, and by the way Hollywood has for decades been a leftist cheerleader for the Democrat Party, so it's hardly a surprise he would get a gig with this particular organization.
