Add phone capabilities to your iPad for $10 a month with Line2 Line2 has demo'd its upcoming software this week that will turn your iPad into a phone for $10 a month.
The service goes live at the end of the month and Line2 shows it off in the embedded video.

When it's live, you will be able to use Line2 to make/receive calls, manage visual voicemails and send/receive texts, as well.

Best of all, it works via 3G and Wi-Fi unlike certain Apple apps.

anyone smell a lawsuit comming ?

why would there be a lawsuit? skype isn't the only voip service out there, just the most popular and recognizable.

I have few doubts Apple will ban this app from the Apple store. The description makes this sound like it does more than VOIP...it allows you to make 3G calls as well which Apple did not intend for you to be able to do on an iPad. They want you to buy an iPhone for that.

And Skype doesn't charge $10 a month. It would lose Apple and AT&T money if the 3G claim is true since you can only use a microSIM from the latter at this time. Or am I wrong?

Regardless, it seems to be a little too good for truth. I don't like Apple and its products, and therefore don't actually keep up with any of it, but I just don't see this happening unless they pay off Apple out of that money.
