Samsung expects to sell 25 million 'smart' TVs this year Samsung has noted today that it expects to sell over 25 million "smart" TVs this year.
Overall, the company expects to sell 50 million TVs this year. Samsung's "smart TVs" are Internet-enabled, interactive, stocked with apps, and most have cameras for video chatting.

At CES, the company made waves by introducing a new smart TV that recognizes voices and accepts controls to turn on and off, change channels and adjust volume. Using the camera, the TV can also recognize hand motions and gestures.

To be released in March, the ES8000 will have access to 1500 apps.

Additionally, Samsung is looking to create a Google TV display by the end of the year.

PLEASE Samsung PLEASE........release a not so "top O' the line" model like a 720p with "smartness".

I want one for bedroom and don't need 1080p but would make great use of a wireless built in feature with Netflix capability. I'm thinking ..............700-800 bucks.

Literally just bought one...at least I think it's a smart TV. I don't remember if it said it or not, but it connects to the internet and has an option to display everything in 3d.

Either way, it's Samsung.

This will be a great tool for the disabled. God bless Samsung.
Other than that it will be owned by people who are; lazy, or insecure and need to show off, or the Obsessed.

Seriously, we don't need more of these things, we need to turn them off, and spend time reading educational books with our kids like; Rules For Radicals, Dreams From My Father, Mein Kampf, Das Kapital

I agree. These are some great points. I'm not blaming my parents but I had wished they pushed me more to read books when I was little or more recreational activities. Would've been better off. +1 man.

i honestly dont see whats wrong with owning a decent tv.maybe we should all feel guity for eating while theres starving people in the world.

dont think tv or video games in moderation does any harm.

the reading is a concern as everythings moving to ebooks and paperbacks might possibly go out of production eventually.the whole school system is a concern cause they using ipads to teach kids to read and write instead of the traditional pen and paper and books.i was pushed to read books as a kid and i did read books as a kid.IMO its up to the parents to teach kids to read and to understand books but its the kids choice what they want to spend there time doing.

This is exactly the problem:
The above misguided belief sprouts from "parents" who are either; lazy, cowering, self-interested, etc.
Children are children because they have not developed their judgmental, and coping skills yet. Without; direction, guidance, and role models, they will reach adulthood without the ability to choose what is best.
They will be rudderless tools to be used by whatever influential, skilled manipulator enters their lives.

You're right; I apologize.
I was going to point out that you were too lazy to check your spelling, but I didn't want to "label" you. And I don't want to "label" your teachers as too lazy to ensure you paid attention in class, or mention the necessity of your enrolling in remedial courses to make up for their deficiency, lest you believe you might actually be...lazy.
Thankfully you were not so lazy as to fall for the propaganda that labeling people is wrong.

Breaking story: Samsung smart TVs are being blocked from internet access in South Korea by one of the largest local internet providers, KT (Korea Telecom), which accuses them of piggybacking and taking too much bandwidth. Google for more on this story.
