Apple's new iPad tops Consumer Report's tablet list Despite their report that the new third-generation iPad has overheating issues, Consumer Reports has rated the device its top tablet.
After testing competing devices, including Android tablets like the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the site says the higher temperatures was common and should not be a cause for concern, unless you are playing a processor-intensive game on full brightness.

The group says at maximum brightness, playing a game like Infinity Blade II, on a hot day, the tablet will top out at 122 degrees, higher than predecessors and Android competitors, but not by much.

Apple has sold over 3 million units since launch in March, and the company is the clear market leader in the 10-inch tablet market.

In its report, the group recommended the tablet along with some others, including the Sony Tablet P and the one-pound heavy Toshiba Excite 10LE.

I want to blather (rant) but they say that CR is a serious, unbiased publication. Yet I still find that a bit hard to swallow when they still have advertising...

My only contention would to be to say that the ipud probably 'just' eeked out ahead of everyone else in the tablet wars. In all honesty, politics aside, the damn things aren't really all that different other than a few design features to keep one another from suing the other.

Could be the goof balls in white coats liked the white box the ipud was in that day. It certainly can't be the price to performance point.
