Apple looking for $707 million more in damages from Samsung

Apple looking for $707 million more in damages from Samsung Apple is seeking more money from Samsung, along with a permanent U.S. sales ban on products that violated their patents.
The iPhone maker is seeking an additional $707 million in addition to the $1.05 billion verdict they won last month.

In the new motion, Apple is seeking a "$400 million damage award for design infringement by Samsung; $135 million for willful infringement of its utility patents; $121 million in supplemental damages based on Samsung's product sales not covered in the jury's deliberation; and $50 million of prejudgment interest on damages through December 31."

Apple wants its new permanent injunction to "cover any of the infringing products or any other product with a feature or features not more than colorably different from any of the infringing feature or features in any of the Infringing Products."

Samsung's response was to ask for a new trial. The companies are locked in a patent battle that spans 10 nations and over 20 products.

As if I needed more reasons to not buy Apple...

I liked my iPhone 4 and held off buying until I knew what was on offer with the iPhone 5. God it was a disappointment and so expensive. So I got my son and I a Galaxy S3 each and haven't looked back. So I guess that Apple are running out of ideas and looking to the Courts to prop up their profits.
There are things I like about my old iPhone but I can live without them and not be annoyed by not having them any more. Did I mention that we put 64 GIG CARDS in our phones.
Ps. My wife got the old iPhone 4 as she likes hand me down's.

Considering how well Apple controls courts, and how useless their products are, I think it might be a good time to buy some HTC stock...they would skyrocket if Samsung devices were blocked, and I could sell and buy LG stock before HTC gets sued.

You know, I really hate HP...not just for the reasons I always hated them, but for sitting back and watching this happen. They have a mountain of design patents that Apple violated and they are a US company, they could sue Apple into oblivion, but instead they sit back and lose money while watching Samsung get slaughtered by corrupt courts. Maybe they are just waiting for Apple to sue everyone else out of business so they can sue Apple out of business and become a monopoly.

You got two major points here: the first one being that IF apple was to get the injunction from HTC, the price of the company would skyrocket because of the fact that the company shares would be worth thousands on the news that people couldnt have their products anymore, not to mention the idea that the courts could even do this does scare me.

On the HP thing, im sure that they are just waiting for the dust to clear to step forward, reach into their pocket grab the glove and crack it across apple's face and say you've been served. Why would you go against apple at this point when the patents are still being settled, best to wait until the lines are created as to what is infringement and what isnt, then crack that whip.

I think the shares of Apple will fall they have already started to fall, even the iphone 5 hasn't stopped that fall.

If apple win the HTC thing I think that would be far worse than them losing as it's killing the device market only in the USA and no where else in the world.

1.7 billion only lasts for so long troubles at the factories and the crap load of devices that are being thrown at people who probably don't want them, as they no longer suit them aren't going to look good for apple.

If we were in the era of the Nazis, they would be Apple. Logo should be a poison apple with a worm coming out of it with Steve Job's head on it.
