iPad down to just 52 percent tablet market share

iPad down to just 52 percent tablet market share According to Pew, Apple's iPad is quickly losing its majority share of the tablet market.
A year ago, Apple controlled the lion's share, 81 percent, but that has fallen to 52 percent as Android tablets continue to hit the market at a quick pace.

Amazon's Kindle Fire line accounts for 21 percent of the overall market, representing a hefty portion of Android's 48 percent share.

The new report did not include the popular Google Nexus 7 or Amazon's brand new Kindle Fire HD, meaning the numbers may even be closer to 50/50.

more and more affordable tablets in the market means ipad share will keep going down. they had lion's share because no other companies realized such a "useless" device would be used by people mostly for entertainment. don't get me wrong; i am calling it useless because tablets are not that much useful yet for business purpose due to the absence of proper office and other corporate mobile software.
lower the price, the more will be acceptable to the general public since average people don't need a standard laptop/desktop, and even if they do, they can still afford to buy a low-priced mobile device such as tablet just for the sake of having fun.

awesome specs. too bad it's not available outside US which means even though you buy it through your relatives/friends, support will be nil.

I knew it was going to fall but I didn't expect it to fall this fast.

No, it IS the cheaper tablets...now that the big brothers of eReaders are being called tablets, the 11" iPad wouldn't have a chance at holding the majority of the market even if it was a good product with good support. Heck, even the Apple symbol on the back can't help it now...and people will buy anything with an Apple symbol on the back...they will even backorder phones with broken antennas and useless maps!

Everyone I know using a poo tablet barely uses it and doesn't support the play store. When banner ad revenue slides so will the developers . Only apple users blow money on apps and music like big morons (women) The industry should thank apple and ditch android if they know what's good 4 them. Remember the stat that says it all . 95% of tablet Internet traffic is from an iPad. True story bros
Love the choice though thank goodness for google . But iPad 4 the huge win bromigos .
