Netflix announces date for new episodes of 'Arrested Development'

Netflix announces date for new episodes of 'Arrested Development' Netflix has confirmed the date for the upcoming episodes of 'Arrested Development,' which was cancelled by Fox in 2006 but has a huge cult following.
Fourteen new episodes of the show will be made available for streaming starting in May although there was no exact date given.

Creator Mitch Hurwitz was quick to say that the new episodes should not be considered "Season 4," and that they will be in "order to create the maximum number of surprises," but that you could watch out of order without missing too much.

Each episode will be variable length, like Showtime and HBO shows, moving away from the 21-22 minute format necessary for TV with commercial breaks.

Hurwitz is ecstatic for the new episodes. The show had low ratings for three years on Fox, but is considered by some to be the funniest show of all-time: "One of the reasons Arrested wasn't embraced at the time was it wasn't easy to get your head around it. It was a point of pride with me; I wanted to create a show that had surprises. But that's what they want to do (at Netflix). They want to take risks. They encouraged the complexity that had been discouraged before."

This is one of those shows all my friends rant and rave about that I could never get into. Individually the actors are great and funny, but the plot is pretty much the same every episode. Dude needs some info to save the business. The dad has the info, but wont give it up. Somehow by the end of the episode the business is saved. Got old...

Arrested development is the best critically rated comedy series of all time for a reason, because it's perfect.

The best. A victim of timeslot sabotage. The story itself is peripheral. Each character could have had their own show. Great comedy, great delivery. I watch all threeseasons at least once a year.

Yeah, I'd agree with Azuran about the first season... But I knew the new episodes were coming so I made myself watch the rest.
That show got better and better with each episode and by the end it was just amazing.
But, I can see how it is a bit tough to get into for some people. I mean hey, I don't like the Three-Stooges or Jerry Lewis but I know that many people do like that.
Arrested Development is like that.
Can't wait to see what they do with this season!
