Google: The Galaxy Nexus will not receive Android 4.4 KitKat

Google: The Galaxy Nexus will not receive Android 4.4 KitKat Google has confirmed today that the Galaxy Nexus, the company's reference device from two years ago, will not receive the brand new Android 4.4 KitKat.
Sources claim that the issues are related to the Galaxy Nexus' Texas Instruments chipset. TI bowed out of the mobile chipset market in 2012, and therefore cannot offer proper support for new operating systems and compatibility.

The open-source community will likely create a capable Android 4.4 ROM, but Galaxy Nexus owners may not be as happy with needing to root their device when they had Google-fed updates for so long.

Google Nexus 4, 7 and 10 owners will be receiving the update within two weeks. The Nexus 5 will launch with the device, but will require a small update when setting up your phone.

Well, if size is not too important and you want a very good phone, you might want to consider Note 3. If size is a concern why get the Galaxy S3 as it's cheaper than its bigger brother? Both phones are very adequate, it's just a matter of choice...

Thanks for the suggestion! I presently have the Note 8" tablet and like it alot, I was thinking more along the lines of the new HTC 1 max ...I dont mind the large size my only concern is that it uses the snapdragon 600 mghrtz processor and not the 800. I also like that the speakers are on the front of the phone not the bottom or the back!
