Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 users already have access to Android L preview Google has made its new Android L operating system available as a developer preview to owners of the reference Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices.
Android L (5.0) is a major update to KitKat 4.4, including the addition of "Material Design," a fully refresh of the controls, notifications, animations and gaming aspects of the firmware.

The developer preview is still in beta, meaning if you want to test it out, you will have to have familiarity with Android dev tools and you have to know that many apps will be broken or crash due to incompatibilities.
