One of Amazon's cloud data centers went down earlier today, causing thousands of sites to be taken offline for as much as 3 hours.
A few of the most popular sites were Reddit, Pinterest, TMZ and Foursquare, among thousands of other smaller sites.
Some larger sites that saw intermittent downtime were Imgur, Flipboard, Instagram and AirBnB,
The outages began in the early afternoon, and performance was still considered 'degraded' as of 5 P.M.
Amazon had been hit with two other similar outages this year, once in June and once again in July due to severe weather near its Virginia data center.
