After Encoding AVI to DVD/SVCD the movie plays either too fast or too slow, can I fix this? |
It depends on what you used to encode the AVI to DVD and also the settings. For example, an NTSC 29.97FPS AVI to PAL 25.00FPS MPG using DVD2SVCD with CCE SP will produce a video file much longer than the original, and when you play it back you will see it in a sort of slow motion and the audio will sound like they are all monsters. This is because of the change in Framerate.
There are a couple of options here. For example, if you only want to use CCE SP and wouldn't consider another encoder but HAVE to change the framerate, you could run the AVI through VirtualDUB and try inverse telecine which would change the framerate to about 24fps, then encoding to 25fps would show no noticable difference in the motion of the video, but you might lose some quality.
Even easier would be to use TMPGEnc (I would recommend the Plus version) which will encode and change the framerate without giving you much difference in the motion of it. However, another problem exists here. Doing this sort of encode in TMPGEnc will produce a video stream that kinda jerks or sticks every few seconds, but the pause will be so small you wouldnt notice it unless you were actually looking for it. However, us encoders like to really focus so we can see what the quality difference is so we all notice :-)
