I've compared this Zenith DTT900 with the Digital Stream DTX9900 and here is my result. With a regular analog rooftop antenna I've had since 1985, both of the units picked up same number of channels and very similar singnal strength. Digital Stream has a better sound quality, I didn't have to crank up the volume like when Zenith was plugged in. In my second senario, I used a rabbit ear (tv top) anntena and Digital Stream could not pick up many of the local channels. Your safe bet would be to get the Zenith. I get all of the over the air hd channels in OC, CA.

Just picked up one of these last night and it works great! Makes me think I am subscribed to digital cable. The only con is that I have to crank my TV volume up more than before, but that's minor.
When you buy one, be sure to check the manufacturing date on the side; look for March 2008 or later, as earlier units had issues with the audio.

It is absolutely AWWSUM! All HD channels come in as if off a cable provider. On a set-top antenna! We live 15 miles from Atlanta and get sooo much better picture quality. MUCH better than over the air TV on standard broadcast. The worst received channel before is crystal clear now! I have yet to find the pass-through setting but can split the signal if necessary and use another TV input. The additional Display information, signal quality readout and Guide info is PRICELESS!
Update! NO pass-though on this unit...And DO replace the puke cable wiring with better ones...they are CHEAP and do NOT carry signal well..slight movement of cabling in F-connectors faults the signal! Otherwise I am extremely pleased!

It's a one-trick pony, but what it does do, it does well. The tuner changes channels VERY quickly and allows you to enable/disable and of the sub-channels as well (e.g., 8-2, 8-3). Its EPG works well with channels that broadcast that information. The box is silent and runs cool. The remote uses two AAA batteries (included) and is very small. It handles 4:3 (standard) and 16:9 (widescreen) TVs, though the output is only composite NTSC (480i).
