I have only had this unit for 2 weeks but it DOES play both Blu Ray & HD DVD as well as up convert your stock of regular DVDs to High Def! It won't play the HDi "special features" menus w/o some manual selection, it will do the Blu Ray menus. LG has firmware updates on its' website and their customer service folks say that LG will support HDi features via update in the near future. Buy it, be happy, forget the format war and enjoy your movies!!!!
